"I paint gardens.
I visit parks and botanical gardens, cemeteries and golf courses, yards, vacant lots, faces. I search for views that stir powerful memories in me. The kind that can stop your heart. Like when I was six staring into an enormous dark overgrown garden that was my new backyard or the day when I was ten and my parents got the call telling them my cousin with leukemia had died and nobody would talk about it so I went for a walk in the woods." |
